A new survey has ranked Santa Barbara as one of the top 20 beach towns to live within the United States.
Coming at a solid ranking of 15, Santa Barbara was listed as one of WalletHub’s 2021 Best Beach Towns to Live in.
WalletHub compared 191 cities across 62 key indicators of livability. They split the comparison into two categories, towns located by the ocean and by lakes. Their data set ranges from housing costs to share of for-sale waterfront homes to quality of beach water.
Santa Barbara was ranked 18th for median annual property taxes, 58th for foreclosure rates, 13th for nightlife establishments per capita, 10th for average daily COVID-19 cases in the past week per capita, and 1st in breweries per capita.
Congratulations to Santa Barbara for ranking 1st in breweries per capita!
Goleta was ranked as 30th on the list, Ventura was ranked as 48th, and Carpinteria as 50th.
The top five locations according to WalletHub are Naples, FL; Laguna Beach, CA; Lahaina, HI; Newport Beach, CA; and North Myrtle Beach, SC, respectively.
Other than the home prices, rent prices, homeless epidemic, arson wildfires, crazy drivers, ineffectual city council, extreme stratification and the elimination of the middle class, etc. But sure. If you have the money to own your own space company, Santa Barbara is just dandy!!!
You left out the fact that Santa Barbara has the highest amount per capita of complainers of any city in America.
Ugh…each of the “top” cities is priced for the uber rich. What a silly list.
610pm – You mean the cities that are prettier and generally more desirable cost more than less so ones… weird!!!
WalletHub, whatever the F- that is, apparently hasn’t discovered that current Santa Barbara isn’t half the place it was even 20 years ago (not to mention 40) to live in. QOL has taken a real nosedive, that is, unless you’re homeless or a random 20-something who thinks the funk zone is just “amazing”.
