Many law enforcement agencies across the state are adjusting their methods of serving the public in an effort to limit potential person-to-person transmission during the current viral pandemic.
The Department will continue to protect the public and our employees by adopting a “limited in-person” service model.
As always, officers will respond to in-progress calls where public safety is at risk. The Department defines Emergency Calls as “an emergency when there is an immediate threat to life or serious property damage, and the timely arrival of public safety assistance is of the upmost importance.” These remain our highest priority.
There are also calls for service that are sensitive in nature, which might not fall under the “Emergency Calls” category, but could still require an officer to take an in-person report. The Department will respond to calls for service any time of the day or night when a Combined Communication Center Supervisor, Watch Commander or Sergeant determines that an in-person response is appropriate.
A majority of crime reporting is often considered “Non-Emergency.” The Department defines Non-Emergency calls as “a call where there is no immediate or potential threat to life or property.” Those reports will be taken through our online reporting service, or by phone.
Our goal is to maintain the highest level of service, in coordination with the public, while we all do our part to serve both public safety and public health.

Don’t rely on your government agencies- Be prepared people.
Wrong message; This says the police want to avoid inter-personal contact with those pesky citizens. Over-reaction.
