Santa Barbara Farmer’s Market Eyes New Location

By edhat staff

The local farmer’s market that takes place in downtown Santa Barbara on Saturdays is eyeing a new location.

Normally located in the commuter parking lot on Cota Street between Anacapa and Santa Barbara Streets, organizers are now looking at a new area due to the building of a new police station scheduled to take over the Cota lot.

Now the market is looking into Carrillo Street between Chapala and Anacapa Streets for a potential February 2023 start date while discussing traffic flow and permitting, reports John Palminteri of KEYT

The Saturday Farmer’s Market brings in an estimated 3,000 to 5,000 people each week and also operates on State Street Tuesday afternoons.

  1. That stretch of Carrillo Street gets a lot of bird excrement from the trees that overhang the street. It would make more sense to have both the Tuesday and Saturday market where the Tuesday market is currently held.
