The Santa Barbara County Public Health Department now reports three confirmed cases of the coronavirus (COVID-19).
As of Thursday, 214 individuals have been tested with 3 positive results and 66 negative results. There are currently 145 pending results. The Public Health Department (PHD) notes these numbers only reflect the number of tests being reported to their department.
PHD confirmed the third patient is a North County resident in their 60’s who is a family member of the first person that was diagnosed.
It’s unclear if this patient has underlying health conditions but PHD stated all three confirmed cases do not have a history of travel and are believed to have been infected through community transmission.
All three positive cases are recovering at their respective homes in isolation until PHD clears them.
More positive cases are expected within the next few days.
Ventura County is reporting 13 confirmed cases while San Luis Obispo County has seven confirmed cases.

Hi Ginger1—- Hate to break it to you, but this will not happen. SB would be in a worse predicament given the current hoarding. Our grocery stores would have no food, our pharmacies would have no medications, our banks would have no cash, our gas stations would have no gas. Some people may already be carrying the virus and be going about. Think about it. A man is not an island.
Can somebody please clarify the process of testing so it’s crystal clear? Put it in bullet points so people know what it is, regardless of what any opinions might be. 1) Notice symptoms. 2) Call doctor. Visit doctor? 3) Pass question check? 4) Receive referral? 5) Have test where? 6) Test sent to where? 7) Approx. waiting period? 8) Disposition of tested patient. Home stay or hospitalized? 9) Outcome. 10) Serum viral testing? 11) Immunity? Immune people could know confidently they could move to the front line and help others in need.
This is the perfect time to close Rt 101 on both sides and prevent people moving into the currently (apparently) COVID-free south coast SB county. Only allow transportation of essential materials after careful screening.
Of course this wont happen until a few days from now when it will be too late. Just like all the “measures” the US implements, just like a third-world country.
