Week of April 25-April 29: SB city council and advisory committee meetings.
A long-time Edhat subscriber, hoping for more public participation in our local government, thought it would be helpful and interesting for the community to have a weekly listing of selected meetings, those of possible city-wide interest. We agreed. Please tell us what you think, good idea? waste of time? want it to continue but with more than Santa Barbara city? There were requests for coverage of Carpinteria and Goleta; volunteers to do that and/or County meetings, please contact info@edhat.com.
This weekly volunteer Edhat listing includes City Council and selected advisory committee meetings. According to Council dictates: Santa Barbara city advisory committee meetings now are in-person. Only the Council will have a “hybrid” access, in-person and via Zoom, enabling those unable to attend Council meetings in person to speak their concerns via Zoom. Individual departments, however, are making their own choices to enable hybrid or not; check the listed agendas for access information. Locations: City Council chambers upstairs at City Hall, 735 Anacapa Street; David Gebhard Room, 630 Garden Street, or where noted.

Last week, the April 22, too late for last week’s Edhat posting, 8:30 a.m., Faulkner Gallery, Public Library, joint HLC/de la Guerra Plaza Revitalization Design Advisory Committee meeting was recorded. As of Sunday morning, it remains a dead link. Keep checking! Searching City TV’s programming, we have found scheduled showings at 10 pm, Tuesday, 4/26, and again at 9 p.m., Friday, 4/29. Showing community interest in and concern for the historic center of Santa Barbara, posted are 26 public comment letters, linked here. There’s no mention at all that there even was a meeting on the dlGPRDAC‘s web page.
BUDGET HEARINGS SCHEDULE, fiscal year 2023, link. These are work sessions and public hearings, with a chance for the public to speak. City Departments will be presenting their annual budgets to the City Council starting in early May with final consideration on June 21.
