The City of Santa Barbara’s Emergency Operations Plan (EOP) is in the process of being updated. The EOP is revised whenever there is an activation of the Emergency Operations Center or every two years, as suggested by FEMA’s Comprehensive Preparedness Guide 101 (pg. 4/26). The last revision of the EOP was in 2019, but review of the EOP was postponed due to COVID-19 in 2020.
According to the California Emergency Services Act 8560(a) Emergency Operation Plans are official approved documents that describe the principles and methods applied in carrying out emergency operations. The plans should include elements such as continuity of government, mobilization of staffing resources, mutual aid and public information. In order for the City to be compliant with state law and eligible for reimbursements of state or federal emergency funding, an EOP is required. During every revision, the community is invited to review and comment on the draft EOP.
The City’s draft 2021 EOP is currently located on the City’s website Office of Emergency Services at https://www.santabarbaraca.gov/gov/depts/fire/oes. The Draft EOP will be there for 30 days beginning Tuesday July 13, 2021. There is a link at the site to send your comments or you can call the City’s Office of Emergency Services at 805-564-5711. You can also send comments to EOCManager@SantaBarbaraCA.gov.
