Santa Barbara Adds Portable Bathrooms for Homeless

Source: City of Santa Barbara

The City is currently working with the County Public Health Department under guidance from the Centers for Disease Control to take prevention measures with our homeless population during the COVID-19 crisis, including providing access to portable restrooms and handwashing facilities.

State CDC guidance states that unless individual housing units are available, encampments should not be cleared. Clearing encampments can cause people to disperse throughout the community and break connections with service providers, increasing the potential for infectious disease spread.
