Santa Barbara’s Restaurant Guy has launched a new “To-Go Guide” as restaurants pivot yet again to offering delivery and takeout only.
Similar to what was created last April, John Dickson “The Restaurant Guy” started a new guide at SantaBarbara.com/dining that features the latest news from restaurants that continue to be open and offer to-go food service during the December COVID-19 lockdown.
The list currently has over 65 local establishments and is growing by also including delivery services within the county.

Feast of Fishes Takeout on December 20th
Little Dom’s Seafood in Carpinteria is celebrating the classic Italian American Christmas Eve celebration, by offering its own unique take on Feast of the Seven Fishes. The event derives from an ancient Italian tradition of eating fish on Christmas Eve, and emerged in the 1900’s when Italian American families rekindled this tradition by preparing a seven-course seafood meal that made them feel close to their homes, while celebrating the sea – a major connection in Italy.
The restaurant has composed a three-course holiday menu featuring a variety of seven types of fish and seafood offerings. Available exclusively on Tuesday, December 22nd for takeout and delivery and priced at $25 per person, meal courses include:
- First course: Smoked fish & crab pate with uni butter garlic bread
- Second course: Squid ink tortiglioni with clams, shrimp, and pancetta
- Third course: cheesecake with lemon cream
The meal will be offered on a first-come, first-served basis and can be ordered directly for pickup, or delivered through Door Dash (no pre-order) on December 22.
Rosewood Miramar Provides Food Truck Lunch and Christmas Food Baskets
Rosewood Miramar Beach has reintroduced Miramar-To-Go services to bring the resort’s dining experience home to households in Montecito and beyond. Through the service, nearby residents will be able to take away their favorite dishes and drinks.
Restaurant Osteria Caruso’s features Executive Chef Massimo Falsini’s favorite recipes from his grandmother’s cookbook and growing up in Italy to showcase California’s flavors and ingredients. Dishes range from Cacio e Pepe to Tagliata di Manzo to a robust selection of Chef’s signature Pinsa Romana, an evolved take on the traditional pizza. Dinner options are available Monday through Sunday from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm by calling 805-881-2424.
The resort also has its own food truck that serves lunch options ranging from a Cali Cobb Salad, Crispy Fish Tacos, Hank’s Double Diamond Burger and Dungeness Crab Fritters, as well as craft cocktails, beer, and wine by the bottle. The food truck is open daily from 11:00 am to 5:00 pm, walk-up only.
Available on December 25 only will be Christmas baskets-to-go complete with charcuterie & cheese, aperitifs, salads, pastas, mains, sides, and sweets to share. The baskets start at $165 and can be ordered by calling 805-881-2424 or emailing Miramar.togo@rosewoodhotels.com.
Maybe they’re smart enough to see how the behavior of people like you will necessitate an extension of preventative measures.
Seem like a lot of work for only a “three week” shutdown.
The reason most restaurants don’t have their own delivery service is that it isn’t cost effective for them. It’s more cost effective for Postmates, DoorDash, GrubHub, UberEats & Restaurant Connection to do it. Some of the restaurants you can call them and they will process your order via whichever service they subscribe to – try calling your favorite and ask them!!
