Residential Burglary on Consuelo Dr.

By Geo Duarte

At around 9 PM on Wednesday night, a call came in over the scanner about an actively occurring burglary on Consuelo Drive in Santa Barbara.

The owner of a residence received a surveillance notice and a live video feed showing someone was inside their home. The victims witnessed assailants disabling her cameras by changing the cameras vantage point of view.

The burglars moved cameras angles so they could not be seen. The owners were returning from out of town and were more than an hour away from arriving back at home.

SBPD quickly responded and were on the scene within minutes. Backup continued to arrive for the next 40 minutes. About 20 minutes later an SB County Sheriff’s K-9 unit arrived to support in the situation. Goleta PD also arrived to support the K-9 Officer and SBPD.

Officers entered the residence and went room by room of the home, they cleared the residence as it appeared the intruders had vanished.

Some neighbors reported they believed this was some kind of inside job, since someone knew exactly when they were going to be out of town. This is unconfirmed, and just supposition.

Furthermore, this is a quiet neighborhood. And, yet, there had been several other burglaries and even some early morning catalytic converter thefts in very recent times over one weekend according to neighbors a few blocks away.
