On October 2, 2018 at about 2238 hours, SMPD officers attempted to stop a vehicle driving without headlights. The driver, identified as 30 year old Andy Mena, led officers on a pursuit, during which time he accelerated in reverse and rammed a patrol unit. Mena’s speeds and driving were reckless prior to colliding into the rear of a vehicle that was stopped at a red light at Blosser and Betteravia. The driver of the other vehicle was transported to Marian Hospital and treated for complaint of pain.
Mena has at least three prior convictions for DUI, was driving on a suspended license resulting from DUI, and had an outstanding felony warrant. He was booked into Santa Barbara County Jail for these charges, as well as felony DUI causing injury.
The State Legislature is doing their best to keep companies from asking if the job candidate has an arrest record. Big Mistake. I’d sure like to know this guy’s past before I hired him for anything.
*slow clap* That oughta look good on the resume.
