Prius and Tractor Collide on Highway 1

A section of Highway 1 was shut down Thursday morning after a Prius and tractor collided.

At 4:44 a.m., Santa Barbara County firefighters responded to the area seven miles north of Black Road, west of Santa Maria.

Minor extrication was required to remove two patients from the Prius. One person sustained moderater to severe injuries and the other sustained minor injuries with both transported to Marian Regional Medical Center. 

The tractor operator was not injured. 

The Santa Barbara County Fire Department noted there were foggy conditions when responding to the scene.

Highway 1 closed in the area for a period of time, but the roadway is currently open.

The cause of the collision is under investigation.
