Prescribed Burn out of Control near Lompoc

Firefighters are in the process of knocking down a controlled burn that jumped containment lines in Lompoc.

At 1:59 p.m., Santa Barbara County and Lompoc City firefighters responded to the 3500 block of Jalama Road with engines, a water tender, Batallion Chief, and one helicopter.  They discovered a 1/2-acre fire with the potential to grow to one acre.

Crews put in hose lines and began knocking down the flanks assisted by a helicopter said Santa Barbara County Fire Captain Daniel Bertucelli. 

There are no threatened structures and no injuries. The official cause is under investigation.
