Police Seeking Suspect who Brandished a Gun at Local Restaurant

On Thursday, July 9th 2020, at about 1830 hours, the Santa Barbara Police Department received numerous calls reporting a subject with a gun at Los Agaves restaurant in the 600 block of N. Milpas Street. Patrol officers arrived approximately two minutes after being dispatched. Witnesses reported a male suspect with a gun confronted a female, and after a brief altercation, the suspect fled in a vehicle. There were no shots fired during the altercation, however, a loaded gun magazine was found at the scene. The investigation revealed the female victim was known to the suspect. Detectives are continuing to investigate.

LUVADUCK and others, I know this will not be understood or integrated into your world view but the idea of “defunding” police does not mean that the police would not continue to do the sort of work described here. It proposes that a good part of the work police are doing now be removed from their plate and given to other agencies trained in those matters. That would actually free and focus police to do crime and public threat intervention and protection and not be distracted by family squabbles and mental health cases. This seems like a good idea.
