Police K9 Assists in Arrest of Montecito Strong-Arm Robbery Suspect

On January 5th, 2024, around 7:05 pm, the Santa Barbara Police Combined Communications Center received a 9-1-1 call from an employee reporting a “strongarm” robbery just occurred at their business in the area of 1000 Coast Village Road.  One employee reported being assaulted but wasn’t injured.

Multiple officers responded to the scene and began searching for the suspect.  After a detailed description of the adult male suspect was broadcasted on police radio, officers were able to locate a person matching the suspect’s description near Coast Village Circle and Coast Village Rd.

The suspect, a 28-year-old resident of Montecito [Raider Damron], attempted to hide from officers in an underground pathway and was apprehended with the assistance of a police canine.

The suspect was booked at the Santa Barbara County Jail for the charges of robbery and resisting arrest.
