The Piano Boys Zeyn and Rhyan Schweyk explain themselves on their web site:
“We’re 16 and 17 year-old brothers who have been playing classical piano since 5, composing since 8, performing publicly everywhere since 9, and teaching music to all ages since 12. We aspire to spread the incredible beauties and benefits of classical music, and to inspire everyone, the youth especially, to enjoy the genre more and to play an instrument.”
We have been very fortunate for years to experience their wonderful music in various public places, ranging from Camino Real Marketplace to State Street. As well as at a variety of formal concerts, including at the Music Academy of the West.
It was a bittersweet experience to attend their superb Farewell Concert this past weekend at the First United Methodist Church to a full house. They are heading off to college at Johns Hopkins to study biomedical engineering as well as continuing their music studies at the Peabody Conservatory. The same place that Leonard Bernstein studied!
They kindly posed for me before the concert.
Of course they wore their piano ties and matching piano socks!

For most of the concert they played on a nested pair of pianos, with Zeyn directly in front of us, his hands a blur of skilled performance.
I selected a few videos that show off some of their fastest movements. Interestingly, for these fastest movements I noticed they put the sheet music away and played completely from memory. First is the Bach Concerto for Two Pianos in C Minor which is cataloged as BWV 1062.
Next is a piece they composed called Ricordi Andalusi.
Finally, the Mozart Sonata for Two Pianos in D Major cataloged as K 448.
