Years ago, when I first came to SB, I was a tourist and watched an awesome college baseball game on a Friday evening at Pershing Park. We walked down the the harbor and fell in love with SB.
Yesterday, we had more predictable crime and violence, this time culminating in someone getting shot in the face. Those of you who think folks like me are just “negative nancys” need to wake up to reality. These aren’t just harmless, down on their luck folks. We have TONS or programs, services, and jobs for anyone who can rub two neurons together. Criminals need to go to jail, and there are good reasons why it’s illegal to live in our parks.
Not sure how you so comfortably classify people as “criminals” without actual criminal behavior. Yes this incident is criminal but not all people who “live in parks” or are poor are criminal. Mete out just punishment AND provide proper intervention and treatment for those who misbehave but the expedient of just “go to jail” will get us not very far.
Pretty sure public nuisance is a crime
