A Lompoc man had died from injuries stemming from a vehicle collision earlier this month.
Bradley Blackwell, 47 of Lompoc, was walking on SR-246 around 8:00 p.m. on the evening of October 7, 2023.
The California Highway Patrol (CHP) reports Blackwell was walking southbound from the northbound shoulder of the state route near Sweeney Road in Lompoc.
According to the CHP, Blackwell crossed the highway during hours of darkness and directly into the path of a closely approaching white Toyota Sienna minivan.
The Toyota struck Blackwell who was then thrown over the guardrail. He was airlifted to Marian Regional Medical Center with major injuries.
The driver of the minivan, a 73-year-old woman from Lompoc, sustained moderate injuries.
On October 20th, Blackwell reportedly succumbed to his injuries sustained as a result of this crash.
CHP states drugs or alcohol were not a factor in this collision.
