Pedestrian Struck and Killed by Amtrak Train Identified

The name of the female pedestrian who died last weekend after being struck by a passing Amtrak train in Santa Barbara was released on Thursday.

Eileen Pearl Dumong, 65 of Santa Barbara, died on November 11, according to Raquel Zick, spokesperson for the Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office.

Emergency responders were on the scene around 9:45 a.m at the railroad road tracks between S. Milpas and S. Calle Caesar Chavez Streets.

Zick stated the incident took place near the 700 block of Cacique Street.

First responders discovered Dumong was struck by Amtrak’s Pacific Surfliner 761 train heading northbound.
