The Coroner’s Bureau is releasing identity of the pedestrian who died in the vehicle v. pedestrian collision on Highway 101 at Patterson on September 1, 2022.
The decedent is 30-year-old Paul Douglas Larson of Lompoc.

A pedestrian was struck and killed by a semi-truck early Thursday on Highway 101 near Goleta.
Around 3:00 a.m., dispatch received a report of a man crossing the right shoulder of the freeway between the Fairview and Turnpike exits.
The semi-truck hauling a trailer was traveling southbound approaching the Turnpike offramp when the pedestrian was hit in the center lane of the freeway. The truck driver pulled over and called 9-1-1.
Santa Barbara County Firefighters and California Highway Patrol responded to the scene but were unable to revive the victim, who was pronounced dead.
CHP reports the driver was uninjured and does not appear to be under the influence, although the cause of the collison is still under investigation.
Highway 101 southbound was down to just one lane most of the morning due to the investigation and is expected to reopen later this afternoon.

Seems the CHP takes too long to clear a road these days.
Same goofy procedures are in LA County. Or is it Caltrans?
Bur it should have taken less than an hour to open up the freeway.
Or a half hour after EMT removes victims in an accident.
Priorities are all fouled up by new politics?
Need to use a virtual Coroner if that is an issue.
And just take some photos with gps. Close enough for government work.
And let the world move on.
Or it seems the CHP is bound by some legal junk. From the last century.
And maybe place a cross at the site to remind drivers of road hazards.
And clear out the homeless camps that are illegal. ie need a permit.
