A pedestrian was struck and killed on Highway 101 southbound near the La Cumbre offramp on Friday evening.
California Highway Patrol (CHP) received the report around 6:12 p.m. and discovered a pedestrian had run from the center divider of the freeway across southbound lanes. The pedestrian ran right in front of a 2010 Toyota Camry driven by a 45-year-old man from Oxnard.
The pedestrian was struck by the Toyota in the number two lane and was struck a second time in the number three lane by a 2005 Lexus driven by a 54-year-old Santa Barbara man, according to the CHP.
Both vehicles exited the freeway and the drivers reported the incident. They were uninjured in the collision.
The pedestrian was pronounced dead on arrival, their identity has yet to be released.

Hit and Run red vehicle with shattered windshield got off at next exit..
Crazy. I just saw this guy like 5 minutes before walking up on La Cumbre street right before the bridge with a blanket in his hands. He was walking in the middle of the street and he crossed as soon as the light turned green and I almost hit him. He looked like he was tweaking judging by his movements and his eye looked really large. Then a few minutes later I heard sirens go up State.
So sad Rodger Dodger. May he R.I.P.
They are saying Hit and Run but it sounds like someone pulled over on Los Positas with a caved in windsheild and they don’t know what they hit…
Maybe the driver is in shock…
I will never understand why people try to cross the freeway. Maybe it is collateral damage associated with drugs, alcohol and or insanity. Sad in any event.
Maybe it was suicide.
I haven’t heard anything about El Sueno..
There was a Medical Emergency on Old Mill Road you can check SBCFire.com on Pulse Point for Santa Barbara County Fire calls.
There are some camps in the area and I hate to say it but they might have camp fires I haven’t heard anything about a fire but if you smell smoke or see it you can always call for a smoke check in the area.
Why do Edhatters always assume it’s homeless people?
