Pedestrian Identified in Fatal Gaviota Train Collision

The Santa Barbara County Sheriff Coroner’s Bureau released the name of the decedent from the train vs. pedestrian on Sunda near Mariposa Reina.

The decedent has been identified as 67-year-old William Pattenaude of Goleta.

At approximately 1:13 pm, 911 dispatched fire, EMS and law enforcement to a report of person struck by a train one mile south of Mariposa Reina. Fire units arriving on-scene confirmed a fatality at 1:22 pm.
