Paddle Boarders Rescued Off Miramar Beach

Update by Nelson Roosendahl

Two female paddle borders got blown out to sea by a fresh shore breeze in Montecito around 3:30 p.m. Sunday. Summerland and Montecito fire departments responded, sending a swimmer with a board into the water. A Santa Barbara harbor patrol vessel was dispatched and brought all three safely back to shore.

The two paddle boarders were intercepted by harbor patrol a mile or more offshore of Hammonds Beach. The fire department rescue swimmer was able to close most of the distance to the paddleboarders before harbor patrol arrived at the scene.
