Some areas of South Santa Barbara County received over 2 inches of rain in the past 48 hours, as of 1:00 p.m. Monday.
The City of Santa Barbara averaged 2 inches while other areas ranged between one to three inches. The Alisal Reservoir received 3.58 inches of rain with Lake Cachuma receiving 2.27 inches.
Another storm system is expected to move through the county on Monday afternoon with another one to two inches of rain expected on the South Coast.
The rain is expected to lessen Monday evening as temperatures are expected to stay in the mid 50s.
On Tuesday, Christmas Eve, cloudy skies are expected as more rain is expected on Wednesday, Christmas Day.
As of Monday afternoon, there have been no formal flood or debris flow warnings.
Male goose = gander.
I’m worried, because in 2015, Jerry brown said drought was “the new normal” because of climate change and now this feels like the old normal. Climate change is so confusing!

More nonsense from a consistent denier who doesn’t know the difference between climate and weather. Real climate science can be found at: http://www.realclimate.org, not the bogus big-carbon site above. Just reading that denier URL should give you a hint at how professional the source is.

Are you ashamed of your anti-science opinions? You’ve started to post anonymously instead of under your handle, but it does show in the recent comment bar.
Really, you deniers shouldn’t hide, because its a hallmark of the neo-cons to deny science and pander to the lowest common denominator. Of course, there’s a large dose of cowardice in there, too.
When you refer to science deniers, do you also include those that believe there are more than 2 genders?
When you refer to science deniers, do you also include those that believe there are more than 2 genders? Or does science apply only selectively depending on your political leanings?
There is definitely climate change – there always has been since the earth was formed. Ice ages, hot dry spells, dustbowls, more ice ages, rain, no rain, snow, no snow. Well before man arrived.
This area seems to be on an approximate 12-15 year rain cycle based on recorded history. I remember 12 years ago, it poured rain several times over the winter season and there was often snow on the mountains. Here we are 12 years later and true to recorded history, we’ve got another wet, cold winter on tap. Right on cue!
Once again, the same old tired, debunked nonsense spread by deniers.
Climate Myth #1 – “Climate’s changed before” Climate myth #56 – “It’s a natural cycle”

CJ, you seem to be confused about the difference between bilogical sex and gender, too.
Gender is biological sex. Dummies.
You seem to be confused between gender and gender identity.
Dummies are those resistant to learning, facts, and change. Look up the definition of gender some time.
Most climate science deniers are diehard conservatives. Conservatives are predisposed to be xenophobic, more religious, more repressive of women’s rights, with little concern for fairness or equity, and to hold a pessimistic view of human nature. They are much less open to new experiences of any type, and are much more prone to authoritarianism and to group think. This is the opposite of scientific thought. Staunch conservatives are the least capable of thinking critically and rationally about anything that comes into conflict with their ideology. Conservatives correctly recognize that if anthropogenic global warming is true, then governments need to play a leading role in dealing with the issues. Major governments of the world will have to collaborate to solve the problem. That is totally anathema to the “greed is good” free market capitalist belief system. Therefore, anthropogenic global warming cannot be true in their view, and is rationalized as a hoax, despite the overwhelming scientific evidence to the contrary.
Thanks for the heads up. Interesting, well , my primary reason for being anonymous is because leftists and climate alarmists tend to justify any actions against conservatives by saying you’re basically a Nazi for “denying.” Ok, Tony Heller yes, he too tried posting things anonymously when he was employed as an engineer in Colorado years ago. Benjamin Franklin posted Poor Richard’s Almanack under a pseudonym as well but that doesn’t make his writings invalid. His name is Tony Heller and he’s a very public figure now, hardly an anonymous crank as you suggest: he has testified before Congress, has a YouTube channel with his name, photos of himself etc a website has spoken around the world. He’s not anonymous so you can get that as hominem out of the way. Look at his arguments and you will have a tough time explaining why there is no trend line for drought in California in 100yrs. Why do you suppose climate is political? Both sides fly private jets – Obama just took a huge one to Hawaii for a vacation. He bought an $11m house at sea level recently. It’s because climate alarmism is about social control more than anything. If it were about saving lives, well, we’ve got 45,000 people dying a year in car crashes in the USA and zero dying of climate change with zero forecast, so just lowering federal speed limit to 55 would save 10,000 a year. No, It’s about implementing policies that are beneficial and AOC with her Green New Deal made it plain as day- union jobs for solar and wind, shutting down natural gas and oil etc. she said we had 12yrs and just look at this article from 1989 which said 10 years we’d see Maldives under water etc. https://apnews.com/bd45c372caf118ec99964ea547880cd0
Jerry Brown’s alarmism is the same thing. My point stands, the last drought was a historical oscillating pattern with no trend up or down and we’re simply reverting to the mean- just look at Tony’s government issued graph. Our bigger problem is population growth in California (which Democrats love) and population density here (Newsom and the Democrats just possibly doubled density in Santa Barbara and beyond with the ADU law. Our population is probably 10x what it was when Cachuma was created in 1950. So when it is running dry in future years and everyone is wringing their hands about drought and climate change, just know the real reason cachuma goes dry is the strain on resources in this area.
It’s now looking like climate change has brought an end to the permanent drought that was caused by global warming. I forgot about Brown’s forever drought declaration.
Here’s a link to the county’s >100yr precipitation records for several locations. Sorry for big link. What’s nice about this one is that they put a 7 year moving average on the plots that appears to show the cyclical nature of precipitation for our little corner of the state. **** http://countyofsb.org/uploadedFiles/pwd/Content/Water/Hydrology/7%20Yr%20Mov%20Avg%20Rainfall%20-%20%20SB-SM-Gibr.pdf
Thanks, SHASTA GUY, for the link. It shows that weather averages have been basically the same for 120 years, and we should not pounce on short-term extremes on deciding on major weather changes relating to rainfall.
ShastaGuy: Great link…thank you. Shows us that the New Norm = Old Norm = Same Ol’ Same Ol’. Love to hear the “Henny Penny’s” fervently chime in with so much authority. They always want us to believe their dire predictions, and requests for more $$ to “study” this stuff. And better yet, it’s always links to “iffy” science articles written by the same folks who want our money all the time. Merry Christmas ShastaGuy!
