A GoFundMe page has been created for the man that was badly burned during the Mastercraft Motors vehicle fire earlier this month.
On May 2, Jade Galt reportedly caught fire while working on a Jeep Cherokee at the E. Haley Street auto shop. Neighbor Carlos Corona-Hernandez immediately ran to the scene and sprayed water on Galt, pulled off the burnt clothing and provided aid until emergency responders arrived.
Galt was then treated by medics and transported to Cottage Hospital with burns to the upper torso area, arms, hands, and face area. He was later transported to the Grossman Burn Center in Southern California.
According to Galt’s family, 36% of his upper body, including his face, has been badly burned. He’s heavily sedated on a ventilator in the ICU, has endured 3 surgical procedures, pneumonia, and a very bad infection.
“We are trying to raise money to help with his medical expenses, replacement of his vehicle and personal expenses, like storage for his belongings while he, eventually, continues his treatment at a Rehabilitation Center. It would be such a relief to be able to tell him, ‘Don’t worry, we’ve got it all handled, you just heal!’, when he wakes up,” Galt’s family writes.
His family hope to raise $150,000 to cover these expenses. Donations can be made at gofundme.com/fight-4-jade
