County and Montecito Fire responding to a reported structure fire on Picacho Lane, intersection of E. Mountain in Montecito (5:15p Fri).
Large response, sounds like SB City in the mix. Streets closed in the area. Unsure if people are out of the structure.
It appears the ignition source was the ebike , if so that would be the second one from a lithium battery fire in a month.
Yeah, but speculating that paint thinner soaked rags on top of the burned up ebike is less likely since the bubbles from water are typical for a canvas used for acrylic painting.
I’d even go out on a limb and speculate that the Tesla that burned up on the freeway today with the front end totaled, with 6,000 gallons of water to extinguish wasn’t paint thinner rags either.
While possible, there is no present evidence that the ebike caused the fire. Looking at the art work one could speculate that paint thinner soaked rags may have ignited, for example. Let’s wait to hear from the people with actual knowledge.
