Santa Barbara Police are investigating a fatal shooting that killed one man and left another wounded early New Years Day.
Around 3:30 a.m. Monday, police responded to a report of a disturbance at a residence in the 200 block of W. Victoria Street, cornering De La Vina Street.
Reports of gunshots and an assault with a deadly weapon were also reported. As police arrived they found one male victim who was deceased, laying in the street of the 1300 block of De La Vina, near W. Victoria Street. An injured man was found near the scene and was transported to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital via ground ambulance.
No arrests have been made and details on the men are not available at this time, but early reports state they appear to be in their 20’s.
Another violent assault took place on Sunday where a woman was stabbed multiple times at Leadbetter Beach and taken to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital, although these incidents do not appear to be related.
