Santa Barbara Police and SWAT teams responded to a domestic disturbance turned stand-off in Santa Barbara’s Hidden Valley neighborhood on Monday.
Just after noon, police responded to the 800 block of Cambria Way in a normally quiet community near Hendry’s Beach for a report of a possible domestic violence situation.
According to scanner traffic, the male suspect reportedly barricaded himself in a residence and refused communication attempts with crisis negotiators.
“Police activity in the area of 800 Cambria Way. Please avoid this area until this incident has been resolved. There is no threat to the public at this time and this is an isolated incident,” the Santa Barbara Police Department posted on Twitter.
One person was arrested around 2:30 p.m. and the situation was deemed “resolved,” although the Police Department has yet to release the suspect name.
This is a developing story.

A domestic call on the 800 block of Cambria way near Veronica Springs brings out full response including SWAT.
Male subject apparently got into some kind of domestic situation. He apparently has 3 dogs, Animal Control was also on the scene. A K-9 unit and a robot also arrived on the scene. Plus, 2 ambulances on standby nearby. The subject who is believed to be in his sixties apparently owns a shot gun. Per the scanner, it appears they did make phone contact with the subject and he sounded intoxicated, was cursing and kept hanging up.
The neighbors were told to either shelter in place or evacuate. Some had to remain due to age and other conditions. This is still a developing story.

-
Police swarming off Veronica Springs. What’s up?
-
Lots of sirens near Hendry’s Beach.
Could this be why the County Sheriff’s office just called me?
Notme, they needed a K-9 Unit, they asked the Sheriff if they could utilize their K-9. The PD;s own came out an hour later, it probably was his day off. IDK?
One must not forget that domestic violence calls are some of the most dangerous calls for police. They knew he also owned a gun. They had to bring the negotiations teams. Three dogs can also be dangerous.
Let’s hope so!
Judges love taking peoples guns around here. Domestic Violence cases always lead to the confiscation of weapons and revocation of permits to have such weapons!
4:26 – So….. let the wife beaters keep their guns? Yeah, that’s totally a good idea.
> Domestic Violence cases always lead to the confiscation of weapons and revocation of permits to have such weapons!
If that is true then it’s a very good thing.

“In America, firearms are the weapons of choice for domestic violence homicides: In fact, female intimate partners are more likely to be murdered with a gun than by all other means combined”
“The mere presence of a firearm can threaten, intimidate, psychologically abuse, and force compliance on a partner.”
(read the whole thing; it’s quite alarming)
4:26, I know right, also that’s a huge pain in the ass, when some libtard judge takes your guns away after a DV case you have to stab or beat your family members to death. So much work, it’s almost not worth it!
A SWAT Team in full battle dress, an armored vehicle, two ambulances a robot and a K-9 unit – all to take down one 64 year old man. More than excessive. It must have been a slow day at the sheriff’s station and they all wanted to get into the action.
Yes Doulie, he forgot the Dog-chaser
What exactly do you wish to be equipped with if someone is potentially armed, and might take a shot at you?
@7:41 AM
Do you think that bullets are less lethal if the shooter is 64? Would you prefer the SWAT team to be half dressed? Do you think that the folks you mentioned are “all” of the sheriff’s station (which was not in fact involved)?
You know who *really* has too much time on his hands? You.
Surprised no helicopter. Must have been taking a nap
4-18 @ 07:41 – This is SBPD’s jurisdiction. PS: You forgot animal control.
SNICKER – Speaking of “half dressed.” In one of the photo’s it appears a plain clothes officer (white shirt) may need a larger vest. A lot of white shirt showing between the waist area and bottom of the vest. Too often read where an officer is shot in an area not protected by the vest.
Maybe they didn’t release his name because they don’t know the whole story yet?
To my knowledge they did not release his name because there have been no formal charges and no actual assault.
We do not know details but I know the person and he was on jail inmate list yesterday but is not today.
possibly name not released to protect the other party
