One man was arrested early New Year’s Day for allegedly discharging a firearm during an argument.
Santa Barbara Police responded to the 300 block of W. Micheltorena before 2:30 a.m. Wednesday for reports of gunshots at an apartment building.
Two men reportedly got into an argument with one man grabbing a machete and the other grabbing a gun. One suspect fired a shot into the air while the other suspect fled the scene. The man with a gun then barricaded himself inside his apartment as police arrived, according to SBPD.
After the armored Bearcat vehicle arrived, residents in the apartment complex exited their residences as did the suspect who was then arrested. The other suspect who fled the scene has not been located.
The investigation is ongoing.
