Ocean Rescue Response to Goleta Beach

Santa Barbara County Firefighters received a report of a possible kit surfer in distress approximately a half-mile out from Goleta Beach early Monday evening.

At 5:16 p.m., crews responded to the scene with a water rescue unit, drone, and Air Support Helicopter 3.

The helicopter and done scanned the area to find the reported kite or wing surfer that the reporting party stated “appeared to be having trouble.”

Fire Captain Scott Safechuck later reported the ocean enthusiasts were safely located at Leadbetter Beach in Santa Barbara.

All resources have been cancelled are returning to service.
