Nipomo Man Killed in Santa Maria Traffic Collision

The Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office released the name of a Nipomo man who died in a traffic collision in Santa Maria this week.

On Monday morning, emergency responders arrived in the area of southbound Highway 101 and Main Street for a collision that took place between two northbound drivers after one driver attempted to change lanes.

Michael James Lewis, 68 of Nipomo, was driving a 2002 Honda CRV that rolled several times, crossed the median, and landed in the southbound area of the highway, according to the California Highway Patrol. 

Lewis was transported to Marian Regional Medical Hospital where he later died from injuries related to the crash.

The driver of the second vehicle was reportedly uninjured.
