A Santa Barbara resident created a new website to track shopping hours for Seniors only.

Donovan Karr created a website directory for Seniors during the COVID-19 pandemic as the older population is more vulnerable to the virus. Many stores have been creating special shopping times for the elderly and those with disabilities to limit interactions with the general public.

It tracks where Seniors can shop while the store is still closed to the general public for “senior hours” as well as special offerings and discounts.

Locals are encouraged to contribute to the website to add senior hours and offerings. A Facebook group has also been created to encourage more contributions.

It’s currently focused on Santa Barbara but can incorporate communities outside the local area.

Visit https://SeniorsHour.com for more information.

  1. I’m sure the creator of the website has good intentions, but the site isn’t user friendly at all. If you zoom into a store on the map and click on it, it doesn’t show the senior hours. If you click “All Places”, then you have to click “read more” on each store to see the hours. It’s a bit painful. I doubt most of the target audience (seniors) can figure out how to use the website, lol. I agree with Bernard in that a plain old list would be easier for them to access.
