The City of Goleta has begun initial planning and transportation studies to improve sidewalks in Old Town north of Hollister Avenue between South Fairview and Kinman Avenues as well as along Pine Avenue south of Hollister Avenue. In addition to analyzing issues and roadway geometry to accommodate new sidewalks, the City is looking at potential options that provide new neighborhood benefits. Earlier this summer project materials were sent to neighborhood residents and businesses. The map below shows potential sidewalk locations. Click here to see a project fact sheet with a larger map. If you have any thoughts or suggestions on sidewalk improvements or about on-street issues in the project area, please e-mail sidewalks@cityofgoleta. |
Over the next month, the City, along with our consultant, will be reviewing comments, finishing up the draft environmental studies and continuing neighborhood outreach. In mid-July the draft environmental report will be available for review. Please note that we’ve asked our environmental consultant to study potential improvements in addition to sidewalk enhancements. The results of the environmental analysis along with neighborhood comments and engineering work will help shape the final improvements which will likely be constructed in 2019 and 2020.
