Tuesday, Aug. 1, marked Dr. Erika Endrijonas’ first day as the new superintendent/president of Santa Barbara City College.
Dr. Endrijonas’ new role as superintendent/president marks her return to SBCC; She served as the Dean of Career and Technical Services from 2000 to 2009, where she oversaw 28 departments spread across the Business, Technology, and Health and Human Services divisions on campus, along with the School of Culinary Arts and the Kinko’s Early Learning Center.
Since then her college leadership roles have included Executive Vice President of Oxnard College, President of Los Angeles Valley College, and most recently, Superintendent/President of Pasadena City College since January 2019.

“My first week back at SBCC has been wonderful,” said Dr. Endrijonas. “I had my sights set on returning to SBCC for over a decade, and I am still pinching myself that my dream became a reality. I have started to meet folks here on campus — some for the first time, some I haven’t seen in 14 years — and it does feel like I have come home. I look forward to the next few weeks on campus as we launch our Fall 2023 semester and as I start to meet members of our local community who hold a special place in their hearts for SBCC.”
Dr. Endrijonas replaces Interim Superintendent/President Dr. Kindred Murillo, who has held the position since September, 2021.
For more information on Dr. Endrijonas, see the press release “Santa Barbara City College announces selection of new Superintendent/President.”
Welcome Back! Your EdHat statement is most encouraging and needed. There have been many changes at SBCC, since your 2009 departure requiring College President attention and tough decisions. The District Community is optimistic you can tackle the challenges ahead. Please choose to openly communicate directly with SBCC’s District community.
Please someone make them turn off the lights at CC for daylight hours on weekends and holidays, during the off hours they just leave the parking, pathway and most classroom lights on.
Finally, hopefully, SBCC has a leader who will stay the course. Based on the interim Superintendent/President Dr. Murillo’s candid and critical departing public statement, many challenges await Dr. Endrijonas. She is a bright and positive person. Best of luck.
I do not envy Dr. Endrijonas, especially her having to deal with Veronica Gallardo and her squeaky wheels. You can’t reason with crazy, try to ignore her and just do your job.
