New Construction on State?

By an edhat reader

Does anyone know what’s being built in the 1600 block of State Street between Valerio and Arrellaga? It’s right next to the La Quinta Inn.

  1. Talk about zero setbacks…….take a look at those tiny gray single residences on, Punta Gorda St. that sits almost on top of the freeway . Almost no setbacks and who’d want to live there breathing carbon monoxide from traffic all day and night ! ?? I hope the building department gets their pants sued from the first tenant that developes respritory ( sorry, not spelled right ) problems and it’s going to happen .
They never should of allowded any habitable structures there to begin with .

  2. No one has to buy them unless they accept these obvious conditions. Not sure why anyone would sue them. No failure to disclose anything. Willing buyer meet a willing seller. Caveat Emptor. Or has that hoary principle been eliminated too in this new era of voluntary victimhood.

  3. I lived a parking lot’s length plus a parking strip and a driveway away from 101, here in town. Of course I heard it all the time. One adjusts. It was a very nice apartment. Granted, it was not directly behind a sound wall. We live were we can. Nice you haven’t had to learn that.

  4. Factotum: Willing buyer? People without economic power do not “bargain for” what they get in the “hoary” arms length fantasy. They also have a right to assume that licensing of these properties for development and sale as residential means that some validation has taken place that the homes are safe for occupation. And, at least since the prohibitions against usury in the Bible, there have been social constraints on what people with property can do–it is not just laissez-faire.
