Nearly Three Inches of Rain Expected This Weekend

National Weather Service

A series of storms is expected to move through the area this weekend, according to the National Weather Service (NWS).

The storms have the potential to bring significant rainfall from Friday through Monday. Santa Barbara could receive 2.71″ of rain while Pine Mountain expects to receive over four inches.

NWS states at this time, rainfall amounts look light on Friday and Saturday with heavier rain possible from Sunday to Monday.

As far as impacts go, the potential for minor flooding of small streams and urban areas is the most likely scenario. In terms of timing, rain likely won’t begin until early Saturday for Southern California.

There is a 5-15% chance for thunderstorms on Sunday. Snow levels will be high initially, but could fall below 7000 ft Sunday night into Monday morning.

Stay tuned for updates to the forecast, as things may change over the next few days.
