Today at Haskell’s there is a nasty-looking brownish slightly foamy wash in the waves. It looked like sewage, but might be natural or oil-based.
There wasn’t much of the usual oil wash on the beach. I couldn’t detect any smell. I’ve been there many many times and never seen this before. I should have taken a picture. Does anybody know what it is?
Cruise Ships? City Should take samples….
Ocean is 57 degrees to cold for algal blooms Cruise Ships have been non stop
Could be cruise ship stuff, or from our regular treated city sewage. The cruise ships are allowed to dump only three miles out, which is not far enough when the currents flow this direction.
Cruise ship sewage is a good bet. Like to see a picture of it. Never seen an “algae bloom” produce what’s being described, and I’ve spent a lot of time on the ocean here.
