The only funny part was that he thinks his phone has an 11 on it.
We got a load of mulch for the yard last summer and now there are several varieties of mushrooms, came after the rains. One kind looks similar to the ones in this photo. Pretty groovy to see.

It’s a parasitized rotting something that might or might not have been a chanterelle. Why all the fuss about chanterelles? They are boring compared to some other edible fungi. Oh….yes, They’re easy to recognize. Or not.
Worked in the field for a Public Utility back in the 80’s where we walked the easements throughout Montecito thru to Carp. Back then there were still a lot of native oaks with “wild” undergrowth between lots. My co-worker and I would easily end up with 3 to 4 pounds of chanterelles a week each. Even ran into Julia Child on two occasions – she knew where to look too.

I thought “oh I’ll give that a quick Google!”. Thousands upon thousands of mushrooms! No idea! But I’d love to know!!
LADY – yeah, I tried googling it, found similar images all with different suggestions, none of which looked like this. Hoping someone out there knows, I’m super curious!
