Multiple Traffic Collisions on Highway 101

A few traffic collisions on Highway 101 this Thursday afternoon.

At 4:12 p.m. in the southbound lanes near Mission Street, it was originally reported as a semi-truck and a Nissan sedan collided with a rollover. CHP updated this to be a solo vehicle (white Honda sedan) that spun out into the center divider.

PulsePoint is referring to this as an “expanded traffic collision” and shows two engines, one truck, and one Battalion Chief on the scene. Pretty large response for a single traffic crash. Maybe a miscommunication between agencies on this one.

At the same time off San Marcos Pass, at Via Chaparral and Salvar Rd., someone called in about a white Ford Explorer and a white mustang colliding in the area.

Per the reporting party, the vehicles were doing donuts in the area prior to the crash.

At 4:20 p.m. in Isla Vista, CHP reports a collision between two scooters. This was at the intersection of Embarcadero del Mar and Picasso. One of the scooter riders took off classifying this as a hit and run.
