A multi-vehicle collision including an overturned semi-truck shut down Highway 101 early Tuesday morning.

Emergency officials responded to the northbound lanes near the San Ysidro offramp around 5:30 a.m. They discovered an overturned semi-truck blocking the San Ysidro off ramp and North Jameson with another collision in the center divider.

The semi-truck was filled with 11,000 pounds of food and the area needed significant cleanup. Both lanes were closed as crews offloaded the truck and towed the vehicles from the area.

Tuesday morning’s commute was significantly impacted as both lanes of Highway 101 and the alternate route of N. Jameson were closed.

Highway 101 reopened around 7:00 a.m. but North Jameson remains closed temporarily.
