Motorcycles Allowed on Ellwood Mesa?

A few days I ago I saw some boys riding motorcycles on Ellwood Mesa. They weren’t being unruly, but still, I can’t imagine that that’s allowed. But when I got back to the Santa Barbara Shores entrance, I didn’t see any No Motor Vehicles sign. Am I wrong? Are motorcycles allowed?

Too many people equate stupidity with fun.
I think you meant to say- If an activity would destroy habitat and wild animals, and produce excessive noise and dust, it must be illegal. Except in Palm Desert, Hungry Valley, and the Nipomo Dunes. Plenty of places to play mad max if you want.
In the state of california there is a simple rule of thumb to resolve any questions of legality. If the activity would be fun, it’s illegal.
