A motorcyclist suffered moderate injuries after colliding with a vehicle on Highway 154 Friday evening.

At 10:17 p.m., Santa Barbara County firefighters responded with California Highway Patrol (CHP) and a ground ambulance to the scene, just west of the Windy Gap area, for a motorcycle collision.

According to Fire Captain Dave Zaniboni, a motorcyclist was heading west towards Santa Ynez when they lost control and was struck by another vehicle heading in the opposite direction. The rider was thrown from the motorcycle and complained of moderate injuries. They were transported to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital via ground ambulance. The motorcycle itself sustained major damage.

Two other vehicles involved that came upon the accident sustained minor damage to their vehicles, but no injures.

CHP is investigating the cause of this incident.

  1. A friend used to say, “There are 2 types of motorcycle riders, “the ones who have been in an accident and the ones who are going to be in an accident.” Glad this rider he got off with moderate injuries.
