Motorcyclist and Van collide on N. Fairview Tuesday. At 3:12 PM, 197 N. Fairview Ave, was the scene of a serious yet non-injury accident.
A motorcycle traveling southbound on Fairview Ave. when it was intercepted by a small utility van turning left attempting to enter the parking lot in front of Fairview Cinemas.
The BMW motorcycle struck the left front side of a small white van. It appears the motorcycle had the right-of-way. The rider was thrown forward off the bike with his legs up in the air yet landed without apparent serious injuries.
The Rider was unsure if the motorcycle would even start, It did, he then tested it to see if it was ridable. He performed a quick test by riding the bike in a zigzag motion. His initial assessment was that it was probably okay to ride. He planned to have it checked out.
Goleta PD aka Santa Barbara Sheriff’s Officers took a report. The only visible damage to the motorcycle was a small mirror that was hanging loose.
On the other hand, the van was likely not drivable due to the bumper hanging off and the possibility of the airbags deploying at a later time, due to sensors being likely damaged.

Always cars turning LEFT in front of a Motorcycle… Pay attention people! That rider is very fortunate.
I’m glad someone ‘seen’ the ‘scene’.
The witness stated, “I scene it happen”. LOL. Glad to hear the rider is ok.
Sorry, Correction, the right front-side was struck by the mptorcycle. Hence, the bumper is pushed to the left as in the pic.
