Existing exclusion zones for the Montecito area have been declared “disaster zones,” as reported by the Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office.
Residents and homeowners living in these areas are permitted to return by showing identification at law enforcement checkpoints. Law enforcement will continue to be present in these areas. Unauthorized entry will be subject to Penal Code 409.5(5) PC and subject to arrest.
Contractors seeking entry into these areas to do work will need to provide identification, reason and purpose for entry, as well as name the address and phone number of the client they are assisting.

Mandatory Evacuation Orders for parts of Montecito will be lifted at noon today by the Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office. The public should consult the County’s interactive evacuation map at www.CountyofSB.org for detailed information of the areas described below.
The Mandatory Evacuation Order is lifted for the following area in Montecito:
- North of East Valley Road/Hwy 192
- East of San Ysidro Road/East Mountain Drive/West Park Lane
- West of Romero Canyon Road
- South of the Forest Boundary
The evacuation order is also lifted for the following area of Bonnymede Drive in Montecito:
- South of US 101
- East of Olive Mill Road/Channel Drive
- West of Ocean Meadow Place
- North of the ocean
Long-term Exclusion Zones for Cold Springs/Montecito and San Ysidro remain in effect and are open only to residents, business owners and those conducting official business in the area. Residents with property in long-term Exclusion Zone areas are allowed to enter those areas, after showing proof of residence at law enforcement checkpoints. Residents may escort contractors and insurance adjusters into the area.
Due to the closure of several bridges, normal routes of travel into and out of these areas may be blocked.

The Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office has announced that effective at 12 p.m. today, Mandatory Evacuation Orders will be lifted for parts of Montecito and unincorporated parts of the County west of Carpinteria. The public is advised to consult the County’s interactive evacuation map at www.CountyofSB.org for detailed information of the areas (e.g. Exclusion Zones) described below. These areas will be open to residents, business owners and those conducting official business in the area only.
The Mandatory Evacuation Order will be lifted for the following area of Montecito:
· The areas east of the Cold Springs/Montecito Exclusion Zone (including the Parra Grande Lane and Riven Rock Road areas)
And also lifted for the following area:
· North of State Route 192/E. Valley Road
· South of the U.S. Forest Service Boundary
· East of the Cold Spring/Montecito Exclusion Zone to Park Lane West/E. Mountain Drive/San Ysidro Lane
The Mandatory Evacuation Order will be lifted for the following unincorporated County area that lies west of Carpinteria:
· North of State Route 192/E. Valley Road
· South of the U.S. Forest Service Boundary
· East of Romero Canyon Road/Bella Vista Drive
· West of Toro Canyon Road
Residents returning to upper Toro Canyon Road should access this area via Sheffield Drive and State Route 192.
All other Evacuation Order areas will remain in effect.

On January 25, 2018, the Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office will begin providing TEMPORARY access to the Cold Springs/Montecito Exclusion Zone and the San Ysidro Exclusion Zone for property owners and residents only, who will need to provide proof of address upon arrival at the check point. To determine if your address is in one of these areas, see the schedule for time and location by using the interactive map and enter your address (http://countyofsb.org/) or call 833-688-5551 for more information. January 25 (Crane School check point): Area 1 Southern part of Eastern area: 10AM-12PM Area 2 Northern part of Eastern area: 1PM-3PM January 26 (Vons Shopping Center check point): Area 3 Southern part of Western area: 10AM-12PM Area 4 Northern part of Western area: 1PM-3PM
For clarification, the Cold Springs/Montecito Exclusion Zone and the San Ysidro Exclusion Zone have been shaded in blue on the map to make these areas easier to identify. These are the most heavily impacted areas and the Sheriff’s Office will be providing escorts to some of these areas beginning on Jan 25. All Evacuation Orders in the blue and red areas will continue to remain in effect. To determine if your address is in the blue areas, go to the interactive map located at http://countyofsb.org/ and enter your address. If you do not have Internet access, call 833-688-5551.

The Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office has announced that effective at 12 P.M. on Wednesday, January 24, 2018, evacuation orders and warnings will be lifted for parts of Montecito. Additionally, the U.S. 101 on- and off-ramps for San Ysidro Road, Olive Mill Road, Sheffield Road and Evans Road will be open beginning at 12 P.M. today.
The Voluntary Evacuation Warning will be lifted for the following area of Montecito:
- South of U.S. 101
- East of Channel Drive
- North of the ocean
- West of Olive Mill Road/Channel Drive
The Mandatory Evacuation Order will be lifted for the following area of Montecito:
- South of U.S. 101
- East of Via Del Mar (excluding Seaview Drive)/1307 Danielson Road/Intersection of Olive Mill Road and Virginia Road, to the east end of Fernald Point Lane
- North of the ocean
And also lifted for the following area:
- North of U.S. 101
- East of and including La Vuelta Road/1750 San Leandro Ln/Boeseke Parkway/Ennisbrook Drive/Meadowbrook Drive/Midwick Place/Valley Club Road
- West of Ortega Ridge Road
- South of E. Valley Road
For entry into this last area, please use U.S. 101 to San Ysidro Road to N. Jameson Road.
Corrections are being made to the interactive evacuation map for the following area of Montecito that remains under a Mandatory Evacuation Order:
- East of State Route 192/Sycamore Canyon Road between 2535 Sycamore Canyon Road/SR 192 and Camino Viejo Road.
The County’s interactive evacuation map will be updated at 12 P.M. on Wednesday, January 24 to reflect changes made to evacuation orders and warnings. Please visit www.countyofsb.org to access the interactive evacuation map or call the Public Information Call Center at 833-688-5551 for assistance.
The boil water notice for the area is still in effect. Residents returning to the area are asked to drive cautiously due to the ongoing presence of heavy truck traffic. Restoration of certain utilities continues. Residents are to contact utilities companies directly for restoration assistance and questions.
