Montecito Bridge Construction Nearly Complete

Source: Caltrans

Caltrans is continuing work to rebuild the Montecito Creek Bridge (PM 8.12) which was damaged in the Montecito Debris Flow in January of 2018.  Most of the bridge construction has been completed with further road and creek restoration work ongoing.  The Montecito Creek Bridge is expected to re-open in September.

Barricades and locked gates will continue to secure the Montecito Creek location with detours available via local roads. Emergency responders will maintain access to this locked area for public safety. Through traffic is strongly advised to continue using US 101.

Construction continues on the Toro Creek Bridge (PM 12.14) with ongoing utility and bridge work. This bridge is open with one-way reversing traffic control until project completion.  All lanes of this bridge are expected to re-open by mid-September.

The San Ysidro Creek Bridge (PM 9.6) is open to two-way traffic and is expected to be complete in August. The Romero Canyon Creek Bridge (PM 10.92) and the Toro Canyon Creek Bridge (PM 12.49) remain open to two-way traffic with some remaining bridge and guardrail work until mid-September.

Caltrans is working with the contractor, Security Paving of Sylmar on this $20 million project to restore full access to all five bridges within this corridor and is striving to complete these projects by summer 2019, weather permitting.

The Arroyo Paredon Bridge (PM 15.50) re-opened to traffic in May. Utility work will continue through mid-August.  Lash Construction of Santa Barbara is the contractor for the $10 million replacement of this bridge.

Caltrans reminds motorists to move over and slow down when driving through highway work zones.
