Mission Possible: Street Paving

The intersection of Mission and Bath Streets

Source: City of Santa Barbara

Mission Street between Highway 101 and State Street, and Los Olivos in front of the Mission, are busy corridors that are in need of significant pavement and concrete work.

It’s our “Mission: Possible” to create a smoother, safer experience for drivers and pedestrians in these corridors through a comprehensive road project this summer.

Stay tuned for a construction schedule.

  1. The biggest problem I see is that the right side gets full of cars (starting at daily grind) that want to enter the north bound 101 so all the impatient people speed down the other lane hoping to pass as many cars as possible and then cut whoever they can causing even more of a back up. That street is just a mess at am & pm commutes.

  2. One third of city street works comes from the new retail sales tax – city operating budget only provides two thirds of the necessary money. Soon even that one third will be directed to the new police station so necessary road work throughout the city will never get done. City councils now for years have misdirected the handling of city revenues. Elect four new fiscally responsible voices to the November city council – Mesa, Eastside, Westside and Downtown districts up for election – any four people who want to save our city coming out of these districts for this November?
