I believe there was a “fundraiser” in 1886 to help with the upkeep of the Mission. Judging by today’s appearance, they succeeded BIG TIME!
Note the raised water chute bringing water into the lavanderia from the stone aqueduct towards the east side of the Mission.

I don’t know if that reservoir ever backed up but I remember as a kid it being full of water back in the early ’70s
