Medical Rescue at Gaviota Peak

First responders arrived at Gaviota Peak Saturday afternoon for a hiker with heat exhaustion.

At 2:42 p.m., Santa Barbara County Fire Department engines, Air Support Helicopter 3, and Search & Rescue arrived on the scene. 

The patient, a 20-year-old female hiker, was exhibiting symptoms of mild dehydration and was transported to County Fire Station 38 by helicopter.

The hiker was assessed by firefighter paramedics and ultimately denied ambulance transport to the hospital.
