Santa Barbara County firefighters are responding to fast-moving brush fires off McMurray Road in Buellton.
The call came in around 3:18 p.m. and it currently appears to be four separate fires burning north of Buellton.
Incident Command is reporting a potential of 700 acres. Multiple air tankers and aircraft are en route.
Edhat reader Tyler shares video of the fire and air tankers making drops.

The McMurray incident.
Sounds like a big fire now.
Air attack estimated 700 acres
I’m in Buellton and power went out, heard due to lines arcing. Then heard fire near Jonata Park rd with PG&E estimated resolution time of 6:45 pm and 728 residents affected. It’s 4:05 and our power seems to have just started to come back on.. *knock on wood* have not heard anything about 101/154 fire yet however I did just hear a series of sirens pass by my house on the 246…Hoping things will settle down.
PG&E, right? Not Edison over there. Is power being turned off in Solvang and Santa Ynez, and the Casino?
2 large air tankers called and command to be at the old Zaca restaurant.
Also Santa Maria City.
4:10pm power is back off
Why would they turn the power off to the casino? If they do that they need to shut down noleta too.
I am staying in Solvang. Obviously we have no power. Can’t get much info. Should we leave??? So stressed. Went through the Thomas fire 🙁
Engine 5 also responding talking evacuations but my radio is breaking up as usual.
Heck no stay put…You might end up in a worse situation..
Yikes you posted your message like 12 !!
101 North through Buellton appears to be closed. Be safe!
There are more engines responding I would think they are trying to stop the foward progress I don’t know if it is worse Northbound 101 is closed. I’m just thinking what happened back in 1990 the fire came down the hill and split Goleta and Santa Barbara or Noleta If you want to go, go…but if the SB was to close where would you go to another Hotel North bound…I would just kick back but if you fear being trapped maybe you should go.
That’s all right I need all the comments I can get.
CALICHRIS10 – Stay put. The roads will be heavy with commuter traffic but you won’t get trapped in Solvang. Buellton is miles away. They said power should be back on at 7:45pm for Solvang so go get some ice cream but don’t worry about it. It will be much safer to leave later than when everyone is trying to get home after work.
Yes. For multiple posts you can thank Edhat system, which will lag big time on “send” for a comment and then those who don’t know, try to send again and again.
Thank You Edhat…:)

Sorry everyone I don’t know why my comment repeated.
No biggy we have all done it.
Alot of units going back in service.
As of 7:45 the fire had grown to 200 acres ( the 700 number earlier was the potential ) and at 8:00 pm evacuation orders canceled.
Because it’s a slow moving fire in light fuel with natural flank protection.
Releasing more units and bedding down for the night at Riverview Park. Ya’ll can chillax.
