Santa Barbara County District Attorney Joyce E. Dudley announced today that Eduardo Barragan Barajas, age 33, will face life in prison as a result of being found guilty, as charged, of six counts of PC 288.7, sexual intercourse with a child ten years of age or younger, and seven counts of PC 288(a), lewd act upon a child under the age of 14 years old. Defendant Barajas began regularly sexually abusing Jane Doe when she was 8 years old.
District Attorney Dudley stated, “It remains inconceivable that someone could sexually assault a child. Thankfully, as a result of this thorough investigation by Santa Maria Police Department and rigorous prosecution by Deputy District Attorney Billy Ha, this child molester will never be able to do that again.”
Mr. Barajas will return to Court on June 4, 2018 for sentencing in Department 7.
Is this life a never get out life, or a get out in three years, pick up trash on the highway for six months, and get a free ride at cc for “re-entry rehabilitation”? Oh wait, it’s California. He’ll probably get a government job.
He was molesting for many years until he was reported. He had a record for other crimes; he was eligible to be deported, but the sanctuary city laws returned him to the community. This was a preventable crime.
If he lives until age 72 it will cost the state about $2 million, if he stays healthy.
