By edhat staff

A man suffered serious traumatic injuries following a single-vehicle collision in the Santa Ynez Valley early Thursday morning.

At 6:53 a.m., Santa Barbara County Firefighters responded to the area of Alma Pintado and Adobe Canyon Road in between Solvang and Los Olivos with a ground ambulance and Calstar helicopter.

Crews discovered a white pickup truck had collided with a tree with significant damage to the truck. One male patient was inside the vehicle and required extrication.

Firefighters extricated the patient and determined he sustained serious traumatic injuries. He was then flown to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital via Calstar helicopter.

The cause of the collision is under investigation.
